Sensory Jam

The next Sensory Jam in Helsinki will be held in autumn 2024.

Sensory Jam is life with all of your six senses. It’s a jam with multisensory experiences including taste, smell, touch, movement in space and everything else you can possibly imagine. As a starting point we are blindfolded when experiencing. We provide blindfolds for everyone.

The Sensory Jam is based on the immersive performance concept The Sensory Cocktail Bar by The Center for Everything. If you have enjoyed The Sensory Cocktail Bar, this gives you a possibility to play further with the concept. If you have never heard of it, no worries. You will get all the information at the jam.

When you register for the jam, you will also receive a short piece of information how to prepare for the jam. However, you can also just arrive on the spot – we have everything ready, both the blindfolds and materials for the senses. Do take clothes you feel good moving about.

The structure of the session is:

19 – 19.30 Tuning-in, safety and basic information

19.30 – 20.30 Testing of sensory cocktails and preparation

20.30 – 23.00 Serving of sensory cocktails

You can come and go as you like, but we recommend arriving for the beginning so everyone shares the same information about safety and staying until the end as it strengthens the experience of the jam. We kindly ask you to arrive in the beginning if you haven’t been to the sensory jam before.

Some special notes:

Letting go of the control of the sight changes your perception of others, space and boundaries. Please consider whether this is something you’re ready for. There are multiple safety precautions in place to keep everyone safe, but ability to recognize and articulate your own boundaries is essential.

For this jam we’ll only sell tickets beforehand so we can anticipate the amount of people attending. This has to do with safety (also in relation to covid) and so we can prepare the blindfolds beforehand. The blindfolds are carefully washed after each use and handled hygienically before given to you. The space is ventilated regularly. There’s also an air purifier in the space which lessens the risk of infection according to peer-reviewed research.

Please ask for further information about our precautions related to covid by sending a message to office at centerforeverything.com.

We’ll take some photos and possibly shoot some video at the jam. If you’d rather not be seen in these, come and tell it to the facilitator and we’ll sort it out.

Sensory Jam is committed to the principles of safer space. This means respect for all genders, sexualities, backgrounds, bodies and abilities. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic or other oppressive behavior is not allowed.
